Firefox 2.0 Alpha
Firefox 2.0 Alpha can now be downloaded by all. The link can be found on this post. I just finished downloading it and will see how well it runs.
This means that extensions will once again become incompatible, but at least we have the Nightly Tester Tools to help with that. With any luck I’ll still be able to run a few of my faves.
Will it fix the massive memory issues? That’s my main concern. As expressed in my Opera posts the problem became so bad that I replaced Firefox with Opera as my default browser.
If folks are curious I can post experiences with it here. I’m not expecting that much of an interest, but who knows?
Enjoy the 2.0 Alpha.

(note: I’ve edited this to clear up my explanation a bit.)
So far it really hasn’t been that bad. I have ran into two issues so far.
The first issue: I had two tabs opened and then closed one. This caused the URL of the closed tab to became the URL in the address box. Also, the browser wouldn’t respond to left- or right-clicks nor button combinations (such as Ctrl-U for view source). The upshot? I gave focus to the address bar and hit esc, and it reverted to the proper URL. The browser still wouldn’t respond to other commands, but I was able to select the address and copy it via Ctrl-C.
I’ve also had one experience where a bookmarked page was tucked into a subfolder that wasn’t selected.
For being Alpha though it’s been pretty darn good.
