Ads in Distributed Themes? Argh!
Filed Under (Waste Basket) by Mysk on 30-01-2006
This morning I uploaded a theme by isnaini.com. It’s a three column theme with the main content block situated on the left. It’s a fairly decent design that seems to be growing in popularity.
The problem is that the theme was loaded with ads, and they weren’t mine.
The right-center column contained AdSense and chitika codes, the header had AdSense code and, as I found out much to my annoyance, loading a full post displayed a chitika block at the bottom of the post. That little surprise appeared just above the comments.
Apparently others have accused him of scamming, so whomever writes isnaini.com countered saying that the ads are there only as an example and that there are no ID codes in the ads. Therefore they receive no credit for them.
Okay, I checked and this seemed to be true, but what’s the point? Entering <!– comments –> into the templates to draw attention to the intended locations is more than enough, and screenshots work just as well.
What a mess. I don’t want to dig through every PHP file to see if ‘example’ ad blocks are there. I sure hope that this doesn’t become a trend.
