A Wintry Mountain Grove

Do you have a setting that you can imagine that “feels spiritual” or special to you? Have you ever looked at a picture of a location and felt a pulling at your heart? A place that you know is somehow meaningful to you in a deep way.

There is one setting in particular that makes me feel that way that’s been coming to mind for as long as I can remember.

It’s a wintery grove of sorts that is set in the mountains. The snow is perfect; no animal or human prints mar its pristine surface. The mountains do not place this “grove” in a valley, but rather high up on a long lazy slope and the mountain tops rise up not too far in the distance.

The wind is usually blowing, so puffs of white swirl across the perfect white surface. The trees, which are not evergreens, are barren and sway a bit in the wind. The number and types of trees can sometimes change, but they’re typically tall slender trees. They may be missing patches of bark: This place is cold, and it’s been cold for a long time.

It’s not a dead place, though. It sleeps peacefully.

The sky is blue and seems to go on forever, with only a few white clouds here and there.

There’s a certain feminine presence about the place, but I have never seen another form there.

Despite the cold and the seemingly forlorn appearance of the place it is special and fills me with a sense of peace and comfort.
