It seems like the U.S. isn’t the only country with companies who are sue happy and largely ignorant… who would have thought so? So I’m going to have a little fun with this post as well as share this bit of silly tech news with all of you.
There’s a fellow named Bjoern Harste who’s apparently very well known on the German side of the blogosphere. This man owns a super market and blogs about his daily experiences at work, but he’s received a cease & desist order from Sozialgericht Bremen. Why? Apparently because his blog appears in Google’s search results before Sozialgericht Bremen’s website when a search for “Sozialgericht Bremen” is performend.
Obviously, this company is new to the interwebs and doesn’t understand how it works. As if Mr. Harste has any control over how Google ranks pages for “Sozialgericht Bremen“. What is this man supposed to say in court? “I’m sorry, your honor, but my content is actually deemed valuable by surfers..”. Perhaps Sozialgericht should design their site better?
One thing is for certain: I hear the distinct sound of a fading whistle…
You can read more about this at this digg.com entry or at this blog. You may also want to read this if you don’t fully understand how I’m having a little fun with this post.
Welcome to the Internet Sozialgericht Bremen.
