Shadows In Motion earned its name. I never could remain focused on a single subject, and I’ve reached the point again where I am asking myself what my blog brings to the table.

As I mentioned on my personal blog I firmly believe that a blog needs to produce some sort of unique content. It makes no sense and adds no value, as far as I’m concerned, to simply regurgitate what has already been mentioned on major news web sites. There is the occasional exception for important news, of course, but if you’re not providing a unique service or sharing unique information then why does your blog exist?

You readers are so fickle; a person doesn’t toss something up within a few days and you start to run else where. You see, in the last five days of inactivity I’ve lost roughly ten subscribers. This, of course, is a real world example of my point.

I would go slightly stir crazy if I didn’t have SIM and I don’t trust free hosting services, so I’m not going to get rid of it. Yet I am considering saying the heck with everything and returning to a blog focused on fiction and strange, fun stories. This means that I would post far less frequently and my content would no doubt be stolen… I suppose that’s just life on the Internet, though.

Yet if I do that then what about my interest in technology? Boy oh boy… *ponders*

This is the delimma that’s been rolling around my skull these last five days and it’s why I haven’t made a post in nearly a week. I see so little use - at the time of writing this - in continuing the focus on technology that I am almost certain that I’ll return to focusing on fiction. Thirty minutes from now I may change my mind.

What it will ultimately come down to, though, is that it’s my blog and I’ll take it to where I’m most comfortable. That seems so childish… but the point here is that there are countless other tech blogs. The only thing new that I bring to the table is an independent view of some Web 2.0 services, but TechCrunch pretty much owns that space (which is quite alright, that was never to be my primary and only focus as it is for them). There are my search plugins, but that’s hardly worth dedicating an entire blog to.

I’m not yet saying, officially, that I’m going to change the entire focus of the blog. What I am saying, however, is to not be surprised if I decide to. I don’t want it to turn into another “me too” blog. Writing, though certainly not the only blog focused on fiction, would at least be original.

I have some plans in mind for that, too, in case I do go that route.

Anyhow, this post is basically a brain storm / idle thought post that is not so cleverly disguised as an update and I think that I’ve rambled enough. So, catch you folks later.
