A New Flying Car

Many of us know about the Moller Sky Car. In fact, I have written a very idealistic article about the vehicle and how it would change the airline industry. It has always been a dream of mine to own a personal flying vehicle, and the Moller car is still right at the top of the list.
Now, however, they have some competition. Unlike the Moller car, the new Transition craft appears to require a run way. That’s a significant draw back, but it also allows for a more traditional aircraft design. That in turn allows for a much speedier and less expensive design process. So while it has its cons, it certainly has its ups.
Indeed, to quote the article: “A fully operational prototype is expected to come out in 2008 or earlier, according to the company, while Transition vehicles are expected to hit the road, and the sky, by 2009 or 2010.”
In a way I would be kind of disappointed to settle for the Transition rather than Moller’s Sky Car, which is an absolutely beautiful and intelligent piece of machinery. Yet it would certainly be better than jumping into your average ground-limited vehicle. Either way, you could laugh and wave at the suckers driving in “the fast lane” as you fly by over head, and vaction trips would be significantly easier. I also think that my original article about the air line industry, which I linked to above, is just as valid with the Transition flying car as it would be for the Moller Sky Car - or certainly both.
