Seven Knocks On The Door

It’s 3:54 AM and I’ve been awake since 3:15. I have to admit that I’m tired enough to go back to bed, and it’s not like I’m unnerved or anything so I suppose that I could. On the other hand, I would only be in bed for another hour or two, so I think to myself, “why bother?”

So here I sit typing here instead. Hmph.

Back on the 12th of June I experienced a knock on the door as well, but the difference between that experience and this is that, this time, there about seven knocks. Also, the knock that woke me on the 12th was louder; it had a bit more forced behind it.

This morning’s knock had no real force behind it, though it wasn’t particularly soft. There was also a pattern to it as though the knocker was attempting - but not quite succeeding at - the “shave and a hair cut, two bits” pattern.

As my readers may or may not know I am currently staying with my folks, almost exclusively out of concern for their health. Though I’m not the only one here I am sometimes the only one who has noticed when something was wrong with my father, and I know that I’ve saved his life on a few occasions because of it.

So when I rolled over and looked at the clock to see it reading 3:15 I actually got out of bed and went to check on them just in case. After watching their sleeping forms for a few moments I noticed my father give a slight cough in his sleep, so I figure that nothing is wrong there.

You see, my father has previously expressed that he hates the idea of dieing in his sleep. He says something to the affect of, “They always say that it’s a peaceful way to go, but how do you know that? They could be laying there struggling for all anyone knows.” He’s scared of that, and of dieing alone.

Thus when I heard the knocking on my door I became concerned for him. Despite my paranormal experiences I am not quite sure if I believe in the idea of human ghosts, but… just in case…

So that’s why I’m awake at the moment instead of getting an extra two or three hours of snooze. Sigh. Well, I could lay back down but I know me; I would just lay there, awake, the whole time.

Later folks.
