Google Buys Writely

It has been announced and confirmed that Google will buy Writely. Writely was the first “Web 2.0″ app that I wrote a review about. That review was linked to from many different sources, including the Writely blog.
Some have commented on how they think that Google is buying up more than they can chew. […]

Google’s Still Keeping Secrets

I was doing something that’s rather unusual for me this evening: reading the local paper. That’s surprising in and of itself, but at the exact moment that I openly commented about how there’s never anything interested to be found in our small town’s paper my eyes fell across an article about Google.
Huh. How’s […]

One Week of Opera

It’s been about a week since I set my default web browser to Opera. I can certainly see why some people prefer this browser over others, but for me it’s been a somewhat frustrating experience. Is that due to “growing pains”, or is it something else?
As I mentioned in the original post, my […]

Opera: My New Default Web Browser

I’ve made the big browser switch - sort of - but this time from Firefox to Opera.
Unfortunately there are web sites that don’t render correctly in Opera, and I plan on continuing to use Firefox either way. I also am not very comfortable with some aspects of Opera’s user interface… so why switch at […]

The three beta tools that are currently available are:

Silent ICQ Buddies?

Do you use ICQ and/or Trillian? Have your chat buddies gone quiet? There’s a new update available and if you don’t get it then you won’t be able to see the messages from other people, and they won’t be able to see your’s.
I went all weekend with not receiving messages from people before […]

Firefox Mega Memory Usage

This was incredible, and is the first time that I’ve seen Firefox using so much system memory.
The browser locked up when I opened the second - yes, only the second - tab to check my GMail. Actually, I’ve been getting spammed in GMail lately and I was logging in to flag the mail as […]

Google Desktop To Allow File Transfers, For A Price

The latest version of Google Desktop Search has a feature that allows a person to transfer files from one computer to another, but this feature comes at a price that has become all too familiar with Google: Privacy.
It seems anymore that almost every post that I write about Google is negative. It’s not […]

Invited To CoComment

I received an invitation code to CoComment yesterday and have signed up for their service. This means that I’ll share a good deal of information about it as soon as I’ve become familiar with the CoComment features. Assuming that sharing the information is alright with the CoComment folks, that is.
If so, […]
